The theme song for this year's CWG is ready to rock the people, exactly the way Soccer World Cup's theme song Waka Waka did. The musical Maestro A. R. Rahman launched the theme song of Common Wealth Games 2010 on Monday. The song was first heard and approved by the Group of Ministers (GoM) at a meeting, which was held on Sunday.
The Group of Ministers (GoM) on the Commonwealth Games has finalised Oscar winner AR Rahman's Swagatham as the theme song for the mega event and it will be made public in 10 days, the panel's head said on Sunday.
"GoM has finalised the theme song. A.R. Rahman will give final touches and it will be presented before the people in 10 days," said Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy after the two-hour long GoM meeting in Nirman Bhawan. The theme song will be the last song of the opening ceremony
| The music composer and producer and singer has been drafted by the CWG authorities and the Union government to take the lead role in the ceremony, billed as the most attractive of the events of the CWG. To be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 70,000, the 15-day extravaganza will be kicked off at 7 pm on October 3. Singer Kavita Seth will be among those who will perform at the opening ceremony. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who on Saturday convened a meeting in the light of a controversy of financial irregularities and construction delays in the run-up to the CWG, was briefly told of the highlights of the opening ceremony. | |
