Indian Superheroes

With the release of his upcoming sci-fi film 'Ra.One', superstar Shahrukh Khan feels that Indian cinema would get its own superhero, pushing imported 'Batmans' and Harry Potters to the back seat. "This film is one of its kinds and I am saying this from my 20 years of experience in Indian cinema. We all in the entertainment industry do look at it as something that will take Indian films forward, not because I have made it and not because all of us are part of it.

Let's have a look on Indian Superheroes though !

Can someone tell me what all this hullabaloo is about? Krrish and Enthiran and Ra.One — a new wave of Indian superhero movies, the so-called next level, reflective of the recently acquired international taste of the Indian audience?

What? Superheroes newto Indian cinema? I beg to disagree. All our action heroes, for decades, have been superheroes. Spiderman and Green Lantern can just stuff it.

Sure our Indian superheroes did not wear Tron-and-Ironman inspired suits (Ra.One) orZorro-like masks and capes (Krrish).

Khan says that the film – in which he stars as G.One, who saves humanity from evil villain, Ra.One – has more special effects than James Cameron’s 2009 blockbuster “Avatar” and will mark a shift in the domestic movie industry.

“This film is one of a kind,” Khan told reporters in India’s entertainment capital Mumbai this week. “I feel (it) will take the Indian film industry one step forward from what we have been doing.

“After this film, I feel there will be other Indian superheroes in our films and many more actors to follow.”
