Ajay Devgn has announced his next project for the silver screen will be the remake of the Tamil action film Singam. While Devgn takes on the role played by Suriya Sivakumar, Kajal Aggarwal will step into the heels of Anushka Shetty.
Force - Another Suriya film taken on by Bollywood is Kaakha Kaakha. This time around, John Abraham will play the dutiful cop in chase of a dangerous gangster, and Genelia will play his lady love.
Ghajini – Suriya and Asin starred in the Tamil original while Asin joined Aamir Khan in the Bollywood version. Both busted the box office.
Sunday – Charmy Kaur, Jagapati Babu and Shashank star in the Telugu Anukokunda Oka Roju. Ayesha Takia takes over Charmy's role of a girl trying to recall a particular Sunday in her life. Ajay Devgan, Arshad Warsi and Irfan Khan co-star.
Tere Naam - Sethu, the Tamil original, starred Vikram, Sivakumar and Abitha. Salman Khan and Bhoomika Chawla jelmed the Bollywood version. Both movies were super hits.
Judwaa - Nagarjuna's Telugu blockbuster Hello Brother was remade by David Dhawan with Salman Khan and Salman Khan in the lead roles.
Khushi - While Tamil Kushi starring Joseph Vijay and Jyothika Saravanan was an average film, its Hindi remake with Fardeen Khan and Kareena Kapoor bombed completely. The movie was remade in Telugu too starring Pawan Kalyan and Bhoomika Chawla.
Shakti: The Power - Karisma Kapoor and Nana Patekar won critical praise for this remake of Telugu super hit film Anthahpuram starring Soundarya, Saikumar and Prakash Raj.
Yuva - Mani Ratnam made Aayutha Ezhuthu in Tamil with Surya, Madhavan and Siddharth and Yuva with an all star lineup of Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Rani Mukherjee and Kareena Kapoor. Abhishek won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor
Khatta Meetha - Priyadarshan helmed both the original Malayalam Vellanakalude Nadu with Mohanlal and Shobhana, as well as the remake with Trisha and Akshay Kumar.
Saathiya - Madhavan and Shalini starred in the Mani Ratnam-directed Tamil original Alaipayuthey. Shaad Ali took over to direct Rani Mukherjee, Vivek Oberoi and Tanuja in the remake.
Virasat - Tamil original Thevar Magan had the South's biggest stars Sivaji Ganesan, Kamal Haasan, Nasser and Revathi. Anil Kapoor, Tabu, and Pooja Batra repeated the original's critical and commercial success up North.
Dayavan - Mani Ratnam directed Kamal Haasan in Tamil superhit Nayagan. The remake starred Vinod Khanna, Feroz Khan and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles.
Woh Saat Din - Antha Ezhu Naatkal was a one man movie with K Bhagyaraj directing and starring. The remake was praised for it's storyline, melodious music and Anil Kapoor's and Naseeruddin Shah's performances.
Chachi 420 – Kamal Haasan did a Robin Williams in both the Tamil original, Avvai Shanmugi, and the remake.
Biwi No.1 – Kamal Haasan and Kovai Sarala played the lead roles in Tamil original Sathi Leelavathi. The remake had star power with Salman Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Sushmita Sen, Anil Kapoor and Tabu.
Wanted - Salman Khan's big hit of 2009 was directed by Prabhu Deva and co-starred Ayesha Takia. The Telugu original featured Mahesh Babu in the lead.
Bhool Bhulaiyaa - The 1993 Malayalam film Manichitrathazhu starring Shobana, Mohanlal and Suresh Gopi was remade in several other languages, of which one was the Hindi Bhool Bhulaiya with Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Ameesha Patel and Shiney Ahuja.
