Surya will kick-start his next film Maatraan in the second week of July. After Karthi's marriage, the actor wants a short-break before starting the film, as he has been restless for a year now. Now the latest news is that the shoot might be delayed, as director KV Anand has told him to work on his fitness for the initial shoot, as the character demands it in the film.

Sources say that the project was expected to launch in the second week of July but now it looks like the movie launch will be delayed, as the director is very particular about Surya's looks. The Ko director, who met the Ghajini star during the shooting of 7 Aum Arivu, felt that the actor should tone his body to fit the role. The makers of the film had planned to start the filming in Alaska with a song sequence.

However, Surya is yet to start his fitness regime, as he is busy in Karthi's marriage preparations. Meanwhile, KV Anand has completed the pre-production work and has returned from Nigeria with Harris Jayaraj after churning out some tunes for the film.
