President Obama arrived in Mumbai on Saturday morning as part of a 10-day, four-nation swing through Asia that will put heavy emphasis on opening markets to American goods and creating jobs at home.
Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were given a red carpet welcome at the Mumbai airport. Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan presented Obama a coffee table book on Maharashtra. "I have been looking forward to this visit," Obama told the Maharashtra Chief Minister after landing.
On his first stop on a four-day India visit, US President Barack Obama visited the 26/11 memorial at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai. Obama also spoke to a few survivors of the 26/11 attacks, in which 166 people, including five Americans were killed.
Obama is the third US President to visit India in the last 10 years and sixth in all. The American President is staying at the Taj Hotel in Mumbai.
One of the key announcements was the removal of three Indian entities will from the embargoed list - Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Indian Space Research (ISR0) and the Hyderabad-headquartered Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL).
