IPL awards season 3
With the energetic dance performance, SRK took his leave as the audience applauded his superb on-stage histrionics. Karan Johar and Shilpa Shetty were back to host the last part of the evening concerning the remaining awards in the Viewers’ Choice categories.
Nita Ambani was invited to present the last two awards. The winner in the ‘Best bowler’ category was Pragyan Ojha of the Deccan Chargers who smilingly accepted his trophy. He thanked the Chargers for giving him the opportunity to play for them and even mentioned the name of his senior, Harbhajan Singh, in his acceptance speech.
The last award of the evening was the ‘Best batsman’ award in the viewers’ category. The list of nominees was impressive but the winner could only be 'The Little Master' Sachin Tendulkar. Nita Ambani requested coach Robin Singh to come up to share in the honour. An elated Singh, dressed in a Mumbai Indians jersey, made his way to the stage amid applause and accepted the prestigious trophy.
Karan Johar and Shilpa Shetty then invited the man responsible for the IPL success story - Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi - on to the stage. He expressed his thanks to the players, his team and the fans across the world for making the league what it was. He signed off with a thank you to his family who’ve supported him while he pursued his dream.
The grand finale of the evening came in the form of a coming together on stage of all the evening’s winners. As the cricketing stars rubbed shoulders with each other, a shower of confetti enveloped them and the stage. The team owners were the next to be called on stage.
Last off all, but undoubtedly, most significantly, Lalit Modi was called on stage. As he took centre-stage amongst key members of the IPL family, the crowds cheered as the curtain went down on a memorable and historic evening.
