Six off the last ball by Ambati Rayudu

Date: May 22, 2011
Fixture: Mumbai Indians Vs Kolkata Knight Riders
Result: Mumbai won by 5 wickets
This day would probably haunt L Balaji for the rest of his life. Mumbai needed 21 runs to win off the final over, and James Franklin struck four fours before taking a single, and handing the strike to Ambati Rayudu. Mumbai needed 4 off the last ball, and Rayudu struck a six to spark off wild celebrations in the Mumbai camp.

 

Paul Valthaty’s century

Date: April 13, 2011
Fixture: Kings XI Punjab Vs Chennai Super Kings
Result: Kings XI Punjab won by 6 wickets
Little known Paul Valthaty went after the Chennai bowlers from the word go striking 19 fours and 2 sixes. His hundred came off 52 balls as Punjab chased down the 189-run target with ease. Valthaty who is yet to play a first-class game, gave a first-class impression about himself with his unbeaten knock of 120*. Well done.


Nawab of Najafgarh conquers Hyderabad

Date: May 5, 2011
Fixture: Deccan Chargers Vs Delhi Daredevils
Result: Delhi won by 4 wickets
Chasing a steep 175 for victory, Virender Sehwag led from the front smashing 119 off just 56 balls to power Delhi to a 4-wicket win over the Deccan Chargers. The brutal assault saw Sehwag smashing 13 fours and six sixes at Deccan's expense.

 

Syed Mohammad dismisses Sachin Tendulkar

Date: May 27, 2011
Fixture: Qualifier 2- Royal Challengers Bangalore Vs Mumbai Indians
Result: RCB won by 43 runs
Syed Mohammad will remember this day for the rest of his life. Sachin Tendulkar took a few steps outside the crease, and regretted it immediately. The ball spun towards off, and even as Sachin tried to make contact, AB de Villiers had the bails off in a jiffy.

 

Gayle’s hundred against KKR

Date: April 22, 2011

Result: Bangalore won by 9 wickets
Chasing Kolkata Knight Riders' stiff target of 171/5, Chris Gayle smashed 102 off just 55 balls to take Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comfortable win. For the record he smashed 10 fours and 7 sixes.

 

Malinga’s 1st wicket- A sign of things to come

Fixture: Delhi Daredevils Vs Mumbai Indians
Result: Mumbai won by 8 wickets
Everyone knows that Lasith Malinga bowls a toe-crushing yorker, but nobody knows how to escape one- David Warner included. The Aussie was yorked for just one as Malinga went on to take 5/21 in the match. He went on to become the best bowler in the tournament taking 28 wickets from 16 matches at the end of the IPL.

 

Shane Warne’s final hurrah

Result: Rajasthan Royals won by 10 wickets
Shane Warne took his last wicket in his last over in the IPL, by having Rohit Sharma stumped by Pinal Shah for 58. His team also gave him the perfect farewell by winning the match by 10 wickets. We'll miss you Shane Warne.

 

Amit Mishra’s hat-trick

Result: Deccan Chargers won by 82 runs
Amit Mishra took the wickets of Ryan Mclaren, Mandeep Singh and Ryan Harris to complete his 'trois cheers' moment. The leg-spinner's hat-trick came in the 15th over. Well done Mr.Mishra!

Kings XI skipper Adam Gilchrist tore apart Bangalore's bowling, smashing 106 off 55 balls as Kings XI Punjab scored a majestic 232/2 after opting to bat first. Gilly smashed 8 fours and 9 sixes in his knock, to take the match beyond RCB's grasp

 

 

McCullum and Jayawardene’s partnership

Result: Kochi won by 8 wickets
Chasing 182 for a win, the right-handed opening duo of Brendon McCullum (81) and Mahela Jayawardene (56) put on 128 runs for the first wicket as Kochi went on to win the match by 8 wickets
